I read an article online about Microsoft adding NFC (Near Field communication) to the new windows phone 7. This would allow phone users to pay for items such as subway passes and groceries by waving their cell phones in front of designated machines. Google added this technology to its Android phones and is currently testing NFC in Portland, Oregon as a one-swipe search solution. People with these phones can go to places in the city with the NFC sticker in the window and swipe their phones by the machines to get store hours, addresses, phone numbers and customer reviews. Rumors have it that Apple may be adding this to their iPhone and iPad but they are at this time just rumors.
